In the Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Concert Grand, open, half open, and closed lid positions are available for use with any of the microphone perspectives.
Much more than a simple low-pass filter, the three distinct lid positions were created from impulse responses of a Yamaha CFX Concert Grand piano. This sampled reverb results in an amazingly accurate and lifelike representation of the piano in each lid position.
Example: The Half or Closed Lid Position might be the right choice for your project when you need to dampen some of the high overtones of the piano so that it blends in with an articulate bass line, or so that the piano doesn't cover up an instrumental solo.
To change the lid position:
